Zellene F. Specht, 78, of Chillicothe, died at 1:30am Friday, December 4, 2009, in Traditions of Chillicothe, following an extended illness. She was born August 10, 1931, in Lee County, KY, to the late Charles Thomas and Carrie Dee Brandenburg Stephens. On May 3, 1952, she married Frederick Henry Specht, who preceded in her in death on March 30, 2004. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law F. Stephen (Karol) Specht, Chillicothe; Christian R. (Susan) Specht, Reynoldsburg, OH; grandchildren: Stephen R. Specht; Matthew G. (Billie) Specht; Sean T. Specht; and Chandler Specht; great-grandchildren Emma and Jacob Specht; a brother and sister-in-law Bud (Junis) Stephens; a sister Wanda Lyninger, all of Middletown, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister Allene Rogers. Zellene was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where she belonged to WELCA Church Women United. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 62. She was excellent at knitting. Zellene volunteered for many years with UNICEF and the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed her family and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, December 6, at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 74 W. Main St., with Pastor Patrick Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8pm Saturday at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, 74 W. Main St., Chillicothe.
