Willis Tackett

Rev. Willis W. Tackett, 76, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 10:24am November 7, 2016, at Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born March 20, 1940, in Paintsville, KY, to the late Cecil and Ora (Haney) Tackett. On May 22, 1982, he married the former Hannah J. Howard, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law Stephanie (Scott) Morehead, Chillicothe, Dottie (Joe) Preston, Paintsville, KY; step-daughter Sue Ann Carroll, Grove City, OH; step-sons Kevin (Jill) Montgomery, Springfield, OH, and Shawn Montgomery, Chillicothe; grandchildren: Erika, Dakota, Skyler, Samantha, Matthew, Austin, Luther, Tina, Hannah, Jordan, Ella and Benny; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Cecil "Curtie" (Marlene) Tackett, Paintsville, KY, Phillip (Sue) Tackett, Johnstown, OH, Lee (Kathy) Tackett, Wabash, IN; a sister Jane (Paul) Mead, Paintsville, KY; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Melissa "Missy" Nelson; and a sister Alma Wright. Willis was a pastor at Schooley Chapel Community Church for over 30 years. He also worked for Ross County Children Services before retiring in 2001. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping in Bellefontaine. He loved to serve the Lord and always appreciated when someone came to know the Lord. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, November 12, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with Rev. Kenneth Wright and Rev. Arlie Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Roland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5-8pm at Haller's.
