William "Willie" L. Diehl, 69, of Chillicothe, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones at 8:15am on June 25, 2005. He was born March 14, 1936, in Chillicothe to the late Eugene C. and Violet M. Evans Diehl. On June 23, 1979, he married the former Virgie E. Adams, who survives. Also surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law William L. (Julie) Diehl, Jr.; Brian (Leslie) Diehl; daughter and son-in-law Brenda (Clark) Detty, all of Chillicothe; step-sons Dan (Tina) Tackett, Lexington, NC; Frank (Teri) Tackett, Chillicothe; step-daughters Deena (Michael) Whitley, Greenfield; Diana (Jim) Cox, South Salem; grandchildren: Candy (Brian) Brown; Beth (Erick) Kegley; Josh (Melissa) Whitley; Levi Cox, Tyler Cox, Heath Detty, Nicholas Diehl, Amanda Diehl, Angela Diehl; Danielle Tackett, Ashlee Tackett, Taylor Tackett, Zachary Tackett, Ashley Hodge, Joseph Farris; great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Justin Kegley; brother and sister-in-law Robert (Marie) Diehl, Chillicothe; a sister Mary Jo Jacob, Chillicothe; a special mother-in-law Rosa Saylor, Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Betty Jo Diehl; and an infant brother. Willie was a member of the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church. He worked as an electrician for the Mead Corp. and retired in 1998. He then drove the van for the Ross Co. Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Mead Local 731. Willie served in the US Navy. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Combs officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Firing Squad will follow in Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adena Hospice, 111 W.
