William (Bill) T. Whalen, Jr. 68, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2024.
He was born July 11, 1956, in Columbus, OH, to William (Bill) and Patsy (Peg) Whalen. Bill is survived by his wife Pamela daughters; Amy Savary and Sarah (Kyle) Hoffman; and grandchildren Jackson, Lily Leah Savary and Olivia Hoffman. Also surviving are his mother, Peg; brothers James (Jill) and Kevin (Becky) Whalen; sisters, Michelle Francisco, Diane, Margaret and Beth Whalen; and a host of nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his son Joseph, father Bill; sister Deborah; and his brother-in-law Steve Francisco.
Bill was a 1975 graduate of Bishop Flaget High School, Chillicothe Oh. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corp. He proudly served for 20 years, retiring as a Gunnery Sargent. He was a longtime employee of Volvo in Hagerstown, MD at the time of his death.
Bill's true joy was his family. The love he had for his children and grandchildren was evident to all that knew him. He truly enjoyed being a grandfather and sharing stories with all he met. Bill's mother, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and all that knew him will miss him as well as remember the love, joy and laughter he brought to our lives.
Bill was laid to rest in a private service for the family in Hagerstown, MD. Family members are currently planning a celebration of life details will be provided at a later date in Chillicothe, OH. His online memorial register is available at www.HallerFuneralHome.com.
