William Watters

William D. Watters, 89, of Chillicothe, died 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Valley View Alzheimer's Care Center, following an extended illness. He was born April 10, 1923 in Ross Co. to the late Ernest and Dorothy McQuay Watters. On September 1, 1956 he married the former Erma June Butterbaugh, who died September 2, 2006. Survivors include his children, Lee (Spencer) Keaton, Kathryn Watters, Pamela (Dwain) Reynolds Lowry, and Jonda Watters, all of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Collins, Arianne (Heath Downs) Welch, Scott Alexander, Billy Tolliver, Jessica Watters, Sara Keaton and Caitlin Keaton; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dixie Watters, of Circleville and Eddie (Jeannie) Watters, of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Marjorie Sams. Mr. Watters was a US Army World War II veteran and retired from Wear Ever/Alcoa in 1985. He attended Brookside Church, was a life member of AMVETS Post 4 and a member of the American Legion Post 757. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call 5-7 pm Tuesday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 740 Lakeview Plaza Blvd., Worthington, OH 43085.
