William Tackett

William L. Tackett, Sr., 81, of Chillicothe, died peacefully in his sleep the morning of October 21, 2024, at his residence.

He was born December 26, 1942, in Chillicothe.  On February 22, 1966, he married the former Linda L. Damron, who preceded him in death on January 24, 2018.

He is survived by his sons: Billy (Chris) Tackett, of Jackson; Kevin Tackett, of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Ashley Tackett, Chillicothe, Elijah Tackett, Jackson, and Jordan Park, of Waverly; great-grandchildren: Pierce, Koy, Inara, Thaya, Lamarr "Little Tink" Tackett and Kynlee Park; sisters Eleanor Himelrick, Sharon Kellough, and Rosetta "Sis" Betts; and a brother-in-law who was like a brother, Don Damron.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his mother Loretta Jewel (Smith) Betts; a son Mark Anthony Tackett, a granddaughter Sydney Lee Tackett; sisters Mary Seymour, Joyce Dillow and Judy Kellough; and brothers Danny Tackett, Ronnie Betts, Clifford Betts, Charlie Tackett, Ben Betts and Larry Betts.

William was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and served his country in the US Marine Corps.  He retired as President of Form Rite, but had also worked for Wear-Ever and Rubbermaid Corporations.  He was a member of the First Assembly of God, enjoyed playing golf and loved spending time with or attending events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, October 26, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.  Military graveside services will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery, Bourneville.  The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Friday at the funeral home.
