William R. Jackson, 62, of Chillicothe, died June 3, 2008, at 8:50pm in his home following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held at Noon Tuesday, June 10, at the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Chapel with Pastor Ken Ferguson officiating. Military honors will follow conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the memorial service at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home. Bill was born April 19, 1946, in Fredonia, NY, to the late Levi E. Oral E. Sherman Jackson. On January 28, 2001, he married the former Mary M. Mayle, who survives. Also surviving are his four sisters and brothers-in-law Betty (Richard) Prody, Ridge Manor, FL; Jean (Paul) Bloomer, Indiana; Nancy Milburn, Illinois; Stella (Dave) Betz, Sherman, NY; a brother and sister-in-law James (Ann) Wade, Titusville, PA; a step-son Anthony Quinn Viney, McConnelsville, OH; a step-granddaughter Atisha M. Viney, Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Jackson was a Retired Sergeant First Class after more than twenty years of service with the US Army. He served in Vietnam where he received numerous medals and citations including the Purple Heart, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He also was a retired accountant with the State of Indiana. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Chillicothe, the DAV and the Purple Heart Society.
