William Gragg

March 30, 1909 — November 9, 2009

William "Bill" Gragg, 100, of Bourneville, departed from this life peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family at 9:57am Monday, November 9, 2009. Bill was born March 30, 1909, in Ross Co., to the late John and Dora Lytle Gragg. On April 10, 1931, he married the love of his life, Ruby A. (Miller) Gragg, who survives. Also surviving are their 10 children: Donald (Debbie) Gragg, Bourneville; Rusty Gragg, Chillicothe; Michael (Darlene) Gragg, Frankfort; Jody (Kathleen) Gragg, Chillicothe; Margie Shoemaker, South Salem; Judy Stewart, Chillicothe; Janice Lytle, Bourneville; Charity (Fred) Steinbrook, Chillicothe; Mary (Barry) Allensworth, Provo, UT; Maxine (Don) Stewart, Ft. Myers, FL; 46 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas (Bea) Gragg and Gene (Norma) Gragg, all of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by two sons Ernest Gragg and Billy Gragg; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Bill was a devoted member of Shady Glen Church of Christ and Christian Union for the past 26 years; a very spiritual man who loved to talk about the bible and his unwavering faith. While he loved his family unconditionally, he made it clear to all he was ready to go home to Jesus. He had a kind and generous spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and he loved telling stories of his past. He fascinated kids of all ages, and adults too, with his collection of novelty toys (and especially enjoyed the ones that made us jump). His Cherokee heritage was evident as you entered his home and saw his display of Native American memorabilia. He was a proud member and Honorary Chief of the Chewah Tribe/Band. Until the past few years, Bill could be seen outside working in his garden or tending to his animals in the barn. His goal was to live to be 100. He felt blessed to reach his goal and was thrilled to live to see all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. "Look out Jesus, Bill Gragg's coming home." Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Friday, November 13, in the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Rich Cottrill officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-9pm at Haller Funeral Home. The family would like to express their appreciation to Heartland Hospice of Jackson with special thanks to Jackie "Giggles" Mitchell, Belinda and Patrick.
