William Cunningham

July 30, 1917 — June 11, 2010

William F. Cunningham, 92, of Chillicothe, passed at his home surrounded by loved ones. He went to be with the Lord at 4:09am, Friday, June 11, 2010, following an extended illness. He was born July 30, 1917, in Chillicothe, to the late Pearl and Elizabeth Isaacs Cunningham. On December 23, 1940, he married the former Mae Catherine Wingo, who preceded him in death on November 10, 1992. Surviving are his daughters Carolyn Thomas; Wilmetta Austin, both of Chillicothe; JoAnn Cunningham, Columbus; Catherine Maria Cunningham, Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Zelma (Kenneth) Jackson, Chillicothe; son and daughter-in-law William "Junior" (Iona "Jodie") Cunningham, of Chillicothe; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Pearl Brown and Charity Neece; and a sister-in-law Ester Cunningham, all of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by his brother Harry Cunningham; and sons-in-law Dudley Thomas and Larry Austin. Mr. Cunningham was a member of Zion Baptist Church where he was an Honorary Deacon. He was a hard worker possessing a strong work ethic. He worked at the former 3C Camp and retired from the Mead Paper Co. following over 33 years of service. He enjoyed his family and traveling. The family would like to give special thanks to Adena Hospice and special friends Dr. John Seidensticker and Bill Seidensticker for their exceptional care. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, June 14, at Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. J Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am until 1pm Monday at Zion. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Adena Hospice, 111 W. Water St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
