William Burns

William S. "Bill" Burns, 69,of Chillicothe, joined his precious Lord at 4:40 am, January 10, 2010, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born September 15, 1940 to Clyde J. and Ruth L. Burns. Bill was a long time member of Pleasant Valley Christian Union Church, on Valley Rd. He loved going to Sunday School and was proud of his attendance awards. His family would like to thank Sherri Shewalter and family and Bonnie and Gary Mills for providing faithful Sunday transportation. Bill is survived by brothers, Robert (Thelma) Burns and Jack (Linda) Burns; sisters, Betty (O.D.) Conley, Bonnie Burns and Denise (Harold) Ramsey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marjorie (Ron) Wills and Jeanette Oates; nephew, Jimmy Oates and niece, Barbara Boston. Bill loved baseball, volunteering as a little league coach for over 25 years. He recently became a football fan and enjoyed the games on television. He was a master Tetrus player, and spent countless hours completing intricate paint by number sets. By September he was already thinking of his Christmas card list, sending over 100 every year. Wintertime would bring out several bird feeders and he would enjoy watching his feathered friends. Over the years Bill walked hundreds of miles on Easterday Rd. to the store, or visiting long time friends Maggie, Audrey, the Beatty's, and the Newland's. His smile, childlike ways, and even his stubbornness will be sadly missed. A celebration of his life will be held 5:30 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home, Pastor Lou Watson officiating. Private graveside services will be held Friday in Greenlawn Cemetery. Family and those who knew Bill may call from 3 pm until the time of the service on Thursday.
