William "Bill" Barnhart, 73, of Chillicothe, passed away early Thursday morning, May 5, 2022, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born June 20, 1948, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late James Oscar and Lillian (Smith) Barnhart.
Bill is survived by his wife and longtime companion of over 31 years, Brenda Bryan; a stepson, Charles Hank Long; stepdaughter, Patricia (Geoff) Duncan; stepson, Michael Gumm; his grandchildren, Alise Long, Britney (Matt) Smith, Courtland Duncan, Dylan (Bella) Gumm, and Dayna Gumm; his siblings, Dave (Nayoma) Barnhart, and Vivian (Herb) Rider; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; special friends, Jack Reisinger and Jim "Fuji" Flannigan; along with countless other friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 2 sisters and 3 brothers and former spouse, Myrtle (Cretsinger) Barnhart.
Bill worked as a Union Laborer for many years before retiring. He was a 1966 graduate of Adena High School. He enjoyed lunch dates with classmates in recent years. Bill loved to garden and truly had a green thumb. He shared his crops with everyone. Many friends, neighbors, and family members looked forward to his fresh vegetables. Bill enjoyed cooking and grilling and hosting cookouts for family and friends. He was an avid Ohio State Football and Basketball fan. Golfing with his friends was one of his most favorite things to do. Bill was a very generous, loving, and supportive stepfather and proud PaPa.
On August 22, 2021, Bill was baptized in the Name of Jesus, surrounded by family. He will be missed greatly and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services.
