William Allen

William "Bill" Harold Allen, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away May 14, 2023 at the Chillicothe  Veterans Affairs Hospice Care Unit following an extended illness.  He was born August 24, 1943, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the middle son of the late Harold and Rosemary (Schwarzell) Allen.   Bill is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Jeff) Miller, son Matt (Robin) Allen, granddaughters  Greta and Ingrid, sister-in-law Jutta Allen, three nieces, and one nephew.  He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Robert and sister-in-law Cora Allen.   Bill graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army during the  Vietnam War.  He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 62, VFW Post 108, AMVETS Post 4, Moose Lodge 1626, and Eagles Aerie 600 in Chillicothe, Ohio.  A life-long resident of Chillicothe, Bill also worked for Mead/Chilpaco and owned The Cozy Inn Bar & Grill from 1977 to 2016.    A military graveside service, conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard, will be held  12:30pm Thursday, May 18, 2023 at St. Margaret Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio.    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate   or the Ross County Humane Society at 2308-A  Lick Run Road, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
