Willard Mitchell

Ray Mitchell, Jr., 86, of Chillicothe, died August 24, 2022, at his residence, following an extended illness.

He was born November 5, 1935 in Portsmouth, OH to the late Willard R. and Lena L. Duncan Mitchell.  On July 30, 1964 he married Phyllis Lee Bost Mitchell, who survives.  Also surviving are three children, Pamela (Larry) Wahr, of Bailey, CO, Angela Vorhies and Amy Mitchell, both of Chillicothe; twelve grandchildren, Jasmine (John) Castor, Braden, Landen, and Alyssa Wahr, Kevin and Kimberly Mitchell, Sarah (Eric) Chanmysay, Michael Mitchell, Chelsey Steinbrook, Evan Vorhies, MM2 (SW) Mitchell Burke and Blake Wiley; and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two children, Steven and retired MSGT Jeffrey Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a 1959 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and was blessed with a wonderful career at Harley-Davidson, retiring as a regional sales manager.   Ray also served in the US Marine Corp Reserves for three years.  He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, and bowling.  Most importantly he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and family always came first.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Pastor Aaron Hines officiating.  Friends may call 11-1:00 Friday at Haller's.  Memorial contributions may be made to NCR Hospice, 681 E Third St., Waverly, OH 45690, in his honor.
