Willard Long

Willard G. "Skip" Long, 69, of Chillicothe, died at 1:59am February 21, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center.   He was born September 26, 1951, in McArthur, OH to the late Willard G. and Jessie M. Schettler Long. On June 10, 1972, he married the former Debra L. Poling, who survives.   Also surviving are their children: Tony (Marianne) Long, of Litchfield Park, AZ; Christy Long, of Chillicothe; granddaughters Devin Shauer and Breanna Long; a great-grandson Nathan Valazquez; siblings: Rick (Kay) Long, Columbus, Phil (Judy) Long, Circleville, Marlene (Richard) Vitatoe, Chillicothe, Jim (Sandy) Long, Ray, Melody (Larry) Breakfield, Chillicothe, Mary (Marco) DePugh, Chillicothe, Charles Long, Ray, David Long, Lakeland, FL, Marta Gayle (Tim) Fout, Wellston; and numerous nieces and nephews, including niece Heather Collins, Hillsboro.   Skip was a graduate of Vinton Co. Consolidated High School. He served his country in the US Army from 1971-1973. He worked for Duffy Electric, Basic Construction and Columbia Machine. He was an active member of Church Triumphant.   Military graveside services will be held at 3pm Wednesday in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston, OH, under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Operation Christmas Child through Franklin Graham Ministries at www.samaritanspurse.org
