Rev. Wendell F. Combs, 75 of Chillicothe, OH, went on to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on April 6, 2022. Born September 9, 1946 in Paintsville, KY, the son of the late Clyde and Goldia (Preston) Combs.
Wendell is survived by his wife Linda (Mossman) Combs. The couple just celebrated 51 years of marriage on April 4th. Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Matt (Amy) and Shayne (Bethanie); and his grandsons, Brevan and Brogan. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Pam) Combs, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Harvey Combs.
Wendell worked 26 years for Jeffrey Mining Machine Company in Columbus, OH, and 18 years at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe. However, he will always be remembered as a faithful servant in the ministry. He was a pastor for over 40 years including the last 20 years at New Hope Free Will Baptist in Chillicothe. His ministry included time served as the State Moderator for Free Will Baptist. He also coached junior high basketball at Unioto for two decades as he touched the lives of so many people from multiple generations and all walks of life. Even with all these incredible roles, Wendell's family believes he will best be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, April 11, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastors Mitch Salyers and Edwin Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Rowland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-5pm Sunday at the funeral home.
