Warner Roush

Warner "Bud" J. Roush, 85, of Chillicothe went to be with his Lord and Savior 10:55 pm, Friday, September 28, 2012, at Westmoreland Place Nursing Home. He was born May 7, 1927 in Barberton, OH to the late Warner E. and Laura B. Fout Roush. On November 12, 1948 he married the former Peggy Joyce Staat, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Joyce (Rev. Bruce) Davis, of Oil City, PA and Karla (Steve) Earley, of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Jared and Elaine Davis, Paula (Kacy) Hamm and Jon Earley; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeri Woodring, of Londonderry and Pat (Neil) Merritt, of Chillicothe; a brother, Donald (Elaine) Roush, of Chillicothe; a sister-in-law, Jerri Roush; a brother-in-law, Carl Gearhart; several nieces, nephews, and friends, including special friends Denise and Randy Curtis. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Bea Kneece, Maxine Shewalter, Betty Derringer, Dot Davis, Juanita Gearhart, and Darlene Davis and a brother, Dean Roush. Mr. Roush was a World War II US Navy Veteran and Sea Bee. He retired as a yard clerk for the B & O Railroad in 1985. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and volunteered driving food to shelters and soup kitchens. He was probably best known as the candy man, passing out pieces of candy to those he greeted. The family thanks the 3rd floor staff of Westmoreland Place, Sondra Clancy, and In Care Hospice for their excellent care. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, with his son-in-law Rev. Bruce Davis officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. Friends may call 5-8 pm Monday (today) at the Haller Funeral Home.
