W. Behmer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter E. "Jay" Behmer Jr. on March 2, 2023, at the age of 53. Jay was born to the late Walter E. Behmer Sr. and Sandra J. Thompson on March 4, 1969, in Chillicothe, Ohio, where he spent his formative years trying to convince everyone to call him "Jay" instead of "Walter." After graduating from Chillicothe High School, Jay joined the United States Coast Guard, where he spent 6 years in the service before receiving an honorable discharge. In 1990, Jay married the love of his life, the former Pamela Trutschel, and together they spent 33 long, but mostly happy years together. Soon after the marriage, Jay would go on to work at Hikma Pharmaceuticals for 25 years as an Electronic Packaging Engineer where he was known as "Walt." He will be remembered for always going the extra mile for his coworkers, paying them back with pranks and being on a first-name basis with HR. Jay leaves behind his mother, Sandy, his wife, Pam and three children, Amanda, Kristi, and Shawn. They will all remember him as a loving son, husband, father and a mediocre golfer. The family wishes to thank the Adena Cancer Center, ICU and 2 North for their excellent care of Jay while he was admitted. Most importantly, a special thank you to Adena Hospice, who go above and beyond for their patients. The family will celebrate Jay's life privately. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to American Cancer Society and/or supporting your local bar in his honor.
