Virginia Harris

Virginia Steel Harris, 94, of Chillicothe, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010. She was born December 16, 1915 in Ross County, the daughter of Jessie C. and Stella H. Harris Steel. Virginia was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and participated with the Blessed Virgin Sodality. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1933. She along with her mother, Stella, owned and operated the Scioto Lodge Party Home for over twenty years, catering many banquets, wedding receptions, and business meetings. She was in the food and catering business for over 35 years. She is survived by a nephew, Frederick S. (Barbara) Walton, of Austin, TX; favorite great-nephew Nicholas A. Walton, of Austin, TX; favorite great-niece Erika N. Walton, of Austin, TX; and sister-in-law Betty Spencer, of Gallipolis, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, William Kenneth Harris; and a sister, Helen S. Walton. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Church, 126 Church St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
