Virgil Bayless

Virgil L. Bayless, 79, of Chillicothe, died April 7, 2023 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.   He was born May 2, 1943 in Chillicothe to the late William E. and Helen A. Fairrow Bayless.  On April 9, 1966 he married Christine Brown Bayless, who died November 28, 2017.  Survivors include a son, Mason (Selisa) Bayless, of Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Tania and Davon Bayless; a great-grandchild, Roland Michael Harris; a sister, Alma (Paul) Harris, Chillicothe; a brother, William (Charlene) Bayless, Xenia; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sylvia Miller.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Aldean Bayless; and his mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Katherine Brown.   Virgil retired from Columbia Gas.  He was a lifelong Bengals fan, a US Air Force veteran, and storyteller.  He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, where he sang in many of the church choirs, and sang in the Chillicothe Men's Gospel Choir.    Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Zion Baptist Church, Clinton Rd., Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray, Pastor Mark Gray, and Rev. Shawn Howard officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call 11:00-1:00 Saturday at Zion.
