Vicki L. May, 63, passed away April 12, 2019, at Ohio State Medical Center after a brave battle with an extended illness. She was born July 20, 1955, in Chillicothe to the late George M. and Elsie C. (Sheets) Deeter. On September 26, 1981, she married Chuck May, who survives. Also surviving are her sister Cindy Deeter; brother Earl Deeter, both of Chillicothe; numerous nieces and nephews including: Sara (Donnie) Martin, Emily (Colt) Leasure, Maggie (Justin) Bartram and Robbie (Jessica) May; several great-nieces and great-nephews including: Noah, Gavin, Nora, Maddie and Abby; her uncle Lloyd (Janet) Sheets; in-laws: Betty (Tim) Doles, Dottie (Larry) Harwell, Bill Kelly, Rob (Bonnie) May III, Lori (Roger) Oyer, Janet (Russ) Coffill and Dawn (Gene) Oyer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant son Christopher; sister-in-law Beverly Kelly; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert, Jr. and Dorothy May. Vicki was a 1973 Graduate of Chillicothe High School. Her first and most loved job was at the former Britt's Dept. Store. Shortly after, she received her first treasure in life, a 1978 red Formula Firebird in which she loved cruising around with her three amigos Sharon, Louie and Barb. In 1980 she fell in love with Charles "Chuckie" May. She then married the love of her life on September 26, 1981. Vicki spent the next 38 years being one of the biggest inspirations and most amazing aunt. Her pride and joy were her "kids". She was the best friend, the partner in crime, "mom" and the most amazing mentor anyone could have. Vicki was always the calm in storm. The smile on her face could light up a room. She had the ability to make anyone who sat and talked with her, walk away feeling loved and comforted just by her presence. Over the years many adopted her as their own "Aunt Vicki". There wasn't a soul she didn't touch. Everyone that knew her knew that on Sundays she loved watching cooking on QVC and reading cookbooks. Her favorite dinner was with family at Captains D's. She loved going on long car rides, grabbing a coke a cola and "chasing sirens". Most importantly she loved spending time with her family. She embraced every moment with them. No matter the circumstances, Vicki always found a way to attend every birthday, holiday and celebration. Vicki was a rare gem who had the courage and strength to fight the battles in her life with grace and elegance. She served as a beacon of light for those who needed guidance. The legacy of her kind sweet spirit lives on through everyone she touched. She was an admirable mentor who without a doubt was the wind beneath our wings. Her funeral service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, April 17, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Bruce Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Following burial there will be a covered dish carry-in dinner at the Salvation Army.
