Vicki Kay Blazer, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023 at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center, following an extended illness.
She was born July 11, 1944 in Chillicothe, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert L. and Elizabeth C. (Hamner) Peck. On December 30, 1985, she married Gary E. Blazer, and together they shared nearly 23 years of marriage before his passing on August 3, 2008.
Surviving is a sister, Linda K. McNichols; a brother, David (Joyce) Peck; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and second husband Gary, she was predeceased by her first husband, Harry F. Hatfield; brother, Robert A. (Betty) Peck; sister, Karleen (Don) Davis; a brother-in-law, Steven McNichols; and a niece, Kelly Peck.
Vicki was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1963
. She then enlisted in the United States Navy on October 23, 1964, where she honorably served during the Vietnam Era until May 10, 1966. Following her return home, she began working at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center where she later retired. She was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and the hospice team for all their care and support throughout Vicki's illness.
Military graveside honors conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 2:00pm in Greenlawn Frankfort Cemetery.
