Vernon M. Lewis, 82, of Chillicothe, known to many of his friends as Marshall, was born February 10, 1932, in Springfield, KY to Nathaniel and Roda (Marshall) Lewis, as one of seven children. In 1953, Marshall met and married his devoted wife of 61 years, Mary B. (Hayden) Lewis. In 1964, Marshall moved his family to Chillicothe, OH, where he worked and managed two horse farms for several years. After his employer passed away, he worked at General Electric and later worked for and retired from Kenworth Truck Co. Marshall was a faithful member of Quinn Chapel Church for several years and served as an usher there and was a frequent visitor to St. Mary Church. Marshall is survived by his lovely and dedicated wife, Mary; their children: James Vernon Lewis, Karl Michael Lewis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Teresa Ann Lewis, David Wayne Lewis, Kathy Jane Bell, Joseph William Lewis and Mark Allen Lewis; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. We loved him for his jovial and joking manner and we will miss him greatly. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, March 10, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 5-7pm at Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Mary, 61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
