Vernon D. Hart, Sr., 64, of Kingston, died at 4:30am Friday, December 31, 2010, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born January 2, 1946, in Allensville, OH to Homer Raymond and Golda Marie Kinney Hart. In 1974, Vernon had married the former Nada Jane Handley, who preceded him in death on June 28, 1990. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Vernon D. (Alex) Hart, Jr., of Kingston; daughters Hailey Lynn Shivley, of Jackson, OH; and Banessa Jo Hart, North Jackson, OH; his mother, Golda Marie Hart; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his brother Gerald Hart, Allensville, OH; sisters Betty Bishop, Meigs Co., OH; and Laura Cartwright, Zanesville, OH. He was predeceased by his father, Ray Hart. Vernon was a graduate of Allensville High School. He retired from the former Wear-Ever/Alcoa Plant in Chillicothe. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the AMVETS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, January 4, in the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Bennett officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
