Verlin Wise

Verlin Clifford Wise, 85, of Chillicothe, died at 1:20am September 13, 2023, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born July 16, 1938, in Chillicothe, to the late Clifford and Delora (Daily) Wise.  On August 4, 1957, he married the former Katherine Eileen Gilliam, who survives.

Also surviving is their son and daughter-in-law Steven Verlin (Rhonda) Wise, of Waterville, OH; grandsons: Joshua (Kelly) Wise, of Swanton, OH, Quinten (Kara) Wise, Maumee, OH, Tyler Wise and fiancée Lisa Buffington, of Genoa, OH, and Christien (Megan) Wise, Chillicothe; granddaughter: Hunter N. Wise and fiancée Matthew Angerson, of Lexington, SC; 8 great-grandchildren: Luke, Walker, Tristan, Carter, Grant, Elizabeth, Sasha and Jordyn; great-great-grandchildren: Valerie, Walter and Royce; and 2 nephews Davey (Nancy) Bell and Kenny (Vickie) Bell.  He was predeceased by his sister Joyce Bell; step-father George Winters; and step-mother Marge Wise.

Verlin was a graduate of Southeastern High School, Class of 1956.  He retired from Mead Paper Co. following over 40 years of service.  He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge for over 50 years and he loved to fish, especially with his friends.

His funeral service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, September 19, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.  Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8pm at the funeral home and 1-hour prior to the funeral Tuesday.
