Vance R. Dearth Vance R. Dearth, 61, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly, 8:56 pm, Tuesday, December 12, 2006, in the Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1945 in Ross Co. to Beryl L. and L. Veryl Sowers Dearth. On June 14, 1969 he married Jackie Hughes, who survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Lisa (Bob) Bair; a son, Troy Dearth, both of Chillicothe; his grandson, Christopher, whom he loved and cherished; a sister, Sharon (Amos) Detty, of Londonderry; sisters-in-law, Donna Kelley, Betty (Dan) Young, and Geraldine (Tom) Page; a brother-in-law, Jim (Bunny) Knisley; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Bridgett. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lee A. Dearth; and an infant sister. Vance retired from the Chillicothe Fire Department after 24 years of service and from Haller Funeral Home and the former Haller Ambulance Service with over 20 years of service. He was a little league coach and kept statistics for the Unioto Girls Softball team. He attended Bethesda Christian Church. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday in the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Dennis Garman officiating. Burial with honors conferred by the Chillicothe Fire Department will follow in Rowland Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Friday evening at Haller's.
