Ulysses Skaggs

Rev. Ulysses S. Skaggs, 94, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 3:20am Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Westmoreland Place. He was the last of 12 children born to James Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (LeMaster) Skaggs. On June 4, 1941, he married his childhood sweetheart, Rosie Helen Price, who survives. Together they shared over 72 years. Also surviving are 10 of their 12 children and their spouses: Wanda Adams; Don (Esther) Skaggs; Dave Skaggs; John (Dee-Dee) Skaggs; Charles (Rhonda) Skaggs; Anna (Aaron) Overly; Rick (Pam) Skaggs; Rodney (Kathy) Skaggs; Mark (Carrie) Skaggs; and Ulysses, Jr. (Jana) Skaggs; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; son Harold Roger Skaggs; daughter Esther Miller; sons-in-law Jim Miller and Bernard Adams; a grandson Anthony DeWine; a granddaughter Kyra Adams; and his 11 siblings. Ulysses was employed at Manker's Wholesale and was a school bus driver for Scioto Valley Local Schools. He joined Poe's Run United Baptist Church in June, 1948. He was ordained as a minister in 1969 and served as moderator at Poe's Run since 1979. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Sunday, November 3, at the HALLER FUNERAL HOME with Elder Arvil Murray, Jr. and Elder Freddie Preston officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. Friends may call Saturday from 4-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
