Tony Allen Richmond, 50, of Chillicothe, passed away on Monday morning, June 19, 2017, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born on July 30, 1966, in Dayton Ohio to the late Alfred Junior Richmond and Martha Ellen (Cottle) Richmond Spetnagel. In addition to his mother, Allen is survived by a sister, Rhonda Richmond Wilson and her fiancé Danial Tackett, of Waverly; his nephew, Ryan Lee Wilson, of Hilliard; two nieces, Amber Lynn Wilson, of Dublin, and Amanda Jo Wilson, of Waverly; an uncle, Danny Cottle, also of Waverly; and two aunts, Evelyn (Fred) Veeder, of SC; and Eva (Ralph) Richmond Wade, of Tipp City; his step-father, Ted E. Spetnagel, of Chillicothe; his best friend, Tom Shriver, of Fairbourne; and close friend, Lisa Conaster, of Athens; as well as numerous cousins and other close friends. In addition to his father, Allen was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ora Lee Richmond and Evie Cook Richmond, and his maternal grandparents, Pearl Joseph Cottle and Zelma Davis Cottle. Allen was a graduate of Unioto High School. He went on to complete his Bachelor's Degree in Music Theory Composition from Ohio University, and obtained a Master's Degree in Conducting from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music in Missouri. It was later in his career that he found his passion and calling in teaching others the appreciation and mastery of the music he loved so much. He was employed as a music instructor, working with students at both Ohio University-Chillicothe, and Ohio University-Lancaster. He restored and conducted The Dayton Mandolin Orchestra, was a music director with multiple churches in Chillicothe, a director and conductor with the Scioto Valley Orchestra, the orchestra conductor with Chillicothe Civic and the director with the Great Seal of Ohio Band. Allen also played the violin with the Portsmouth Symphony, was an organist with numerous churches in town and was a member of the Renaissance Singers of Chillicothe. He was also in the process of completing his fourth symphony. In addition to his love for music, he loved traveling the world, going on cruises, and living life to its fullest. His family and friends will forever remember his unique sense of humor and his outgoing nature. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 E. Main Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
