Tommy Scott

February 26, 1938 — August 20, 2006

Tommy L. Scott Tommy L. Scott, 68, of Chillicothe, died 12:46 pm, Sunday, August 20, 2006, in Riverside Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. He was born February 26, 1938 in Chillicothe to Thomas J. and Nannie Graves Scott. Survivors include a sister, Sharon Scott Parker, of Kitty Hawk, NC; three nieces, Leslie Gilmore, Gwyn Shoemaker, and Nancy Ratcliff; two nephews, Danny Miner and Donnie and his wife Kristie Miner, whose thoughtfulness was much appreciated. He also leaves behind Mark and Susan Anderson and their children, Matthew, Joseph and Grace, who Tom thought of as his grandchildren. They were the love of his life, and the center of his world. He was preceded in death by three half brothers, Frank and James Scott and Rex Smith; two half sisters, Norma Miner and Mildred Culliton; a nephew, John Miner; and Theresa Byers, who always held a special place in his heart. Tom was a 1956 graduate of Frankfort High School and attended Bliss College. He retired from the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe in 1988. Tom spent his last years spoiling his "grandchildren". After lunch at the Bridge St. Diner, he would pick them up from school and take them to Dairy Queen. He loved watching Joseph and Matthew play baseball and basketball and enjoyed helping Grace put her puzzles together. Tom loved all children and often treated them with bubble gum and suckers. He was a kind and generous person who will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, with his cousin, Betty Haynes officiating. Friends may call 6-8 pm Thursday at the Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Flaget School, 570 Parsons Ave., Chillicothe, OH 45601; or the Chillicothe Youth League Baseball, PO Box 1927, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
