Tom Long

Tom D. Long, 79, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully at Westmoreland Place at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 41 years, Joanne Walburn Long; his parents, Marvin and Nedra Long; and two brothers, Ronald and Mike Long. Survivors include his children, Deborah (Bill) Hopkins, Keith (Rhonda) Long, stepdaughters, Sharon (Chris) Ondera and Colleen (Michael) Frank. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Tiffany (Brooks) Taber, Damon Frank, Jody (Jeff) Strawser, Corey Ondera, Laura (Matt) Borsick, Brian (Andrea) Long, Sonya (Chris) Vassar and seven great-grandchildren. Tom graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1950 and attended the Ohio State University. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was a long-time member of Brookside Church and the American Legion, Post 62. Tom retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in the late 1990's. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call 11-1 Saturday at Haller's.
