Timothy Lynn Ellis, 74, of Kingston, Ohio, passed peacefully of natural causes on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
He was born on June 10, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Tom and Elizabeth Ellis. He is survived by his loving wife Marcia, daughter Aubrey (Jared) Halm, son Wesley, stepson Jake Holmes, sister Sheree (Lowry) Robinson, grandchildren Ava Christopher, Brevin Strausbaugh, and Macy Strausbaugh and nieces Whitnie Robinson and Courtnie Peacock.
Tim spent his formative years in Memphis, Tennessee, and he attended the University of Tennessee and worked at Warner/Electra/Atlantic Records. In 1978, he moved to Kingston, where he established his roots and started his career as a proud hog farmer. During those years, he delighted in supporting his kids (and later his grandkids) at their athletic events, and he became heavily involved in the community in ways that reflect his innumerably diverse interests.
He was passionate for many years about supporting Rock For Tots, the Ross County Fair hog sales, the Ross County Humane Society, the Majestic Theater (and others), and he always held dear the thankful letters and recounted memories from the community he so cared about.
He was a champion dart-thrower and an avid poker player. He loved spending time with his dart partners, and he had a poker room in his basement where he hosted his best friends throughout the years. That room still smells like great times were had. He cherished his cabin weekends with his poker buddies. He fancied himself somewhat of an outlaw, and if he were dropped into an 1880s western saloon with a pistol and a few coins, he liked his chances.
He was a Chevy man like his father, and he loved his motors. Mention two wheels, four wheels, eight wheels...and now you have a conversation with Tim Ellis. He loved taking his Corvette out with his son and driving the Hocking Hills.
He was the life of the party. If his blues or rock song came on, he was dancing. He delighted in throwing Halloween parties and driving the hay rides. He loved his Cleveland sports teams, and if you were in the 45644-zip code after a Browns win, you were likely to hear Tim set off his victory cannon.
Tim was proud of his family and always appreciated big holiday events with his grandkids. He loved his pets and memorialized them at his farm and visited them regularly. He was a passionate man who served his family and his community well, and he will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Rock For Tots or the Ross County Humane Society.
Calling hours will be held 5-7pm on Thursday, October 26 at Haller Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held from 6-9 pm on Friday, October 27 at the Paint Grill. Following cremation, private services will be held at the family farm.
