Thomas R. Smart, 75, of Chillicothe, passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2022 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.
He was born August 31, 1946, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late William E. and Alberta E. (Penrod) Smart.
He is survived by his daughter, Kara (Richard Jordan) Smart; his sister, Beverly (Junior) Jones; a sister-in-law, Linda Smart; three nieces, Sarah (Greg) Williamson, Katie (Brandon) Crago; and Amy Jones; a nephew, Joe (Connie) Smart; and a step-daughter, Tammy (Doug) Hymrod and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Lucille Smart, and a brother, Charles "Bill" Smart.
Tom worked for Mead Paper Company for over 30 years and retired in 2016. He enjoyed working out in his yard and was known for his love of telling a good dirty joke. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, but most of all, he loved spending time with his daughter, Kara.
A private memorial service with Pastor Bruce Hines officiating will be held at the convenience of the family. In accordance with Tom's wishes, there will be no public calling hours and cremation services will be performed.
