Thomas Brown

Thomas D. Brown, 64, of Chillicothe, passed from this life to be with the Lord 9:55 am, Thursday, May 13, 2010, at his home, following a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Tom had given his life to the Lord. He was born December 24, 1945 in Ross Co. to the late Howard R. and Freda M. Fulton Brown. On November 21, 1970 he married the former Maureen Terry Oyer, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Thomas (Julie) H. Brown and Jessica R. (Scott) Gilbert, both of Chillicothe; his grandchildren, Layken, Marlee and Madisyn; his brothers, James R. and Ralph R. Brown, both of Chillicothe; and several special friends who supported him during his illness, Joe McFadden, Dennis Hill, Bob Barr, Charlie Haas, Roy Burns, and his buddies at Frisch's; Crispie Creme, and the VFW. He was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Brown. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Chillicothe High School and a US Marine Sergeant. He retired from the Chillicothe Police Department in 1992. Immediately following his retirement he began working for Haller Ambulance Service and Haller Funeral Home. He continued working for the funeral home until he was unable, logging over 500,000 accident free miles in his 18 years of dedicated service. Tom was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Logan Elm Lodge 624 F & AM, Aladdin Shriners, and the Ross Co. Shrine Club. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Monday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Bruce Hines officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 2-5 pm Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral service at Haller's. An FOP Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adena Health Foundation, Friends of Hospice, 111 W.
