Thad Overly

Thad Alan Overly, 60, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Chillicothe, OH, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV, following a brief illness.   He was born November 14, 1956 in Chillicothe to the late Lloyd E. and Dorothy J. Burlile Overly. Those left behind include his son, Seth Allyn Overly, Huntington, WV; his daughter, Megan Louise (Nathan) Rutherford, Frankfort, OH; four grandchildren, Breanah Robertson, Cohen, Corbin, and Claira Rutherford; two brothers, Lee E. (Beverly) Overly and Thomas D. (Linda) Overly, of Chillicothe.   Mr. Overly was a farmer, an assembly specialist at Kenworth Truck Company and a carpenter. He was a 1975 graduate of Zane Trace and a member of the Ohio Gun Collectors Association. Thad loved playing his Gibson and Martin guitars, playing piano, shooting, and hunting Hopewell artifacts in freshly plowed fields after a rainstorm.   Thad enjoyed sharing memories of the farm, Hopetown, and Ater's lake. He often spoke of friends and family, those living, and those lost to time, especially of his mother, Jean. The stories of his life were shared with anyone who would listen as Thad knew no stranger.   Private services will be held at the convenience of the family under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
