Tellie Yonts

Tellie Yonts, 94, of Chillicothe, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at her home, following an extended illness.

She was born September 25, 1925, daughter of the late Liburn and Laura Bell (Bentley) Taylor. She married Autry McCray, who preceded her in death, and later Soloman Yonts, who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are children, Sandy (Sam) Withrow, Sam (Pat) McCray, Terry (Lisa) McCray, Audrey (Robert) Johnson, Thomas McCray, and Jesse McCray; step-children, Paul McCray, Willard (Fern) McCray, Mary Ellen (Johnny) Williams; daughters-in-law, Martha Dosey, Lorna McCray, and Sue McCray; her siblings, Tina "Ting", Bessie, MaryEllen, and William, Jr.; as well as several generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her children, Anna Sue (Joe) Lewis, Leonard Daniel McCray, Franklin Delano McCray, Ben McCray, and Bob McCray; step-children, Autry (Hattie) McCray, Julie (Ray) King, Bill McCray, and Mae (John) Parks.

Tellie was a member of the Happy Valley Church, and a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 1812. In her free time, she loved working outside in her flower garden, and taking family pictures.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Willard McCray and Pastor Ronald Cottrill. Burial will follow in Huntington Memorial Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a visitation at the funeral home from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday.
