Sylvester James Beverly, Jr., 68, died March 30, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born January 15, 1949, in Chillicothe to the late Sylvester J., Sr. and Lolita (Juzang) Beverly. He was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, honorably served his country in the US Army from 1969-1972 and worked as a nurse's aid and in patient transport. He was an avid bingo player and will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters and sons-in-law Tracy (Timothy) Harewood, Chillicothe, Jamie (Brian) Beverly-Thomas, Columbus; his grandson Dwayne R. Lytle, Jr., Columbus; special companion Linda Tyler and her children and grandchildren; his brother Robin D. Beverly; a special aunt Grace Mosley, all of Chillicothe; special longtime friends Stuart Strother and Elder Clifford Brown; a special loved one Norma Lytle and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased sister Brenda Hodgen; brothers Steven, Charles Douglas and George Kevin Beverly; and his former wife Debra J. Brown. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday, April 8, at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Military graveside committal, conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
