Susan (Byers) Schwartz, 78, of Chillicothe, died peacefully at 10:40pm December 18, 2024, at Legacy of Chillicothe following a brief illness.
She was born December 14, 1946, in Chillicothe, OH, to the late George E. and Betty (Maule) Byers. On August 27, 1982, she married Richard D. "Dick" Schwartz, who survives.
Also surviving are their sons: Mark (Trina) Schwartz, of Washington CH, and Eric (Melinda) Schwartz, of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren: Andrew, Erin, Tyler and Ryan Schwartz; her sister and brother-in-law Janet (James) Jividen, of Palm Coast, FL; and nieces and nephews: Theresa (Brian) Tatman, Angie (Eric) Graves, Sharon (David) Pennisi, Lindsey (Justin) Franks, William "Buck" Schwartz, and David Love. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law Fred Schwartz, Jr., and sisters-in-law Linda Love and Wilma Landress.
Sue had attended Bishop Flaget School, was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1964, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She earned her Masters Degree from Ohio University and was the Assoc. Director of the Paint Valley ADAM-H Board. She also worked with the Ross Co. Genealogical Society, United Way of Ross Co., American Assoc. of University Women, Chillicothe Education Foundation, a former member of the Chillicothe Board of Education and the Assoc. of Mental Health Administration.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm Saturday, April 19, at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Sue would appreciate a donation to either: The James Cancer Center; or Heartland Hospice of Circleville, 116 Morris Rd. Suite B, Circleville, OH 43113.
