Steven Lee True

Steven Lee True passed from this life on January 22, 2026. He was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on March 19, 1963, to the late Dorsey E. (Doc) True and Jacqueline S. True, who survives.

He attended Saint Peters elementary school and graduated from Bishop Flaget High School in 1982. Soon after graduation he married the mother of his beloved children, and they moved to Marietta, Georgia where they raised their children Patrick and Erika True. He worked in the apartment maintenance field for most of his career, and most recently at The Quality Inn hotel after he felt called to return to Chillicothe to help care for his ailing father, who preceded him in death in August of 2025.

Steve leaves behind his children, who were his world, Patrick True of Atlanta, Ga., and Erika True of Dallas, Ga. He was a devoted father, son and brother to siblings, Deborah (Frank) Nunziato, John True, Brenda (William) Pickerrell, and Donna True, all of Chillicothe. Steve was blessed with many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends who will remember him for always finding a way to make them laugh.

He enjoyed preparing for family events where he would provide some sort of gift for many of the youngest children. He was predeceased by his father, and the mother of his children, Elaine Smith True who remained a big part of his life until her passing just 4 weeks prior to his.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Peter Catholic Church on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00am followed by burial at St. Margaret Cemetery in Chillicothe.
