Steven Painter

November 13, 1966 — December 20, 2011

Steven Brian Painter, age 45, went to Heaven to greet his Lord when a fire destroyed his home on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it was determined that that the destruction of the home led to his death. Conditions prove that Steve died while trying to save the children's Christmas gifts. He had already managed to toss many of the gifts onto the front lawn. His body was found next to the Christmas tree in the basement / Family Room looking as if he had tried to make one more trip. Steve was a native of Chillicothe until just recently when he moved to his Jamestown residence at 1421 Parker Road with his dear wife Clarissa and loving step-children Megan and Branden. Steve was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on November 13, 1966. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1985, served four years in the U.S. Air Force, and then worked 11 years at the Kenworth Trucking Plant in Chillicothe. He worked at many other jobs along the way including customizing full size NFL football helmets of all the teams for friends and relatives. But his favorite most recent job was working with his best friend and neighbor Don Kirkbride at landscaping the area lawns. Steve was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan as friends and neighbors can attest to as they could hear him shout his team onto victory. He is survived by Clarissa (Kris) Kirkbride Painter his beloved wife of 10 years and his dear stepchildren Megan Kirkbride and Branden Osborne. He also has two brothers (his best buddies) Bill Painter, Jr. (wife Kelli and baby Raevyn) and Rob Painter of Chillicothe. His father, Bill Painter Sr. passed away in 2006, but his mother, Mary Sandra Painter survives. He is also missed by his niece Kassie Jodon (husband Shawn and baby Bradley Jodon) now residing in Greenfield and nephews Andy, Adam (fiancée Mariah Reisinger) of Chillicothe and Kyle Painter of Piketon. Martha and Robert Tallmon as well as Bryan and Jean Hinkle, all of Chillicothe, beloved aunts and uncles of Steve, mourn. Steve accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age so family and friends know that they will see him again someday. All arrangements are being handled by The Haller Funeral Home at 1661 Western Avenue in Chillicothe. Calling Hours will be observed on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 12:00 pm until the funeral at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery on Brookside Drive in Chillicothe. Pastor Brandon Lee from Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe will officiate. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to The Steve Painter Memorial Fund managed by The Haller Funeral Home to assist Kris and the children. Steve will be greatly missed. We all love you!
