It is with great sadness and pain that we share the tragic news that Steven Edward Drotleff passed from this life on August 26, 2021, at his home following a brief illness. He was born January 5, 1969, in East Liverpool, OH. His passing leaves behind his beloved and cherished daughters, Natalie and Lauren and the love of his life, his fiancé, Victoria Villarreal.
He is also survived by his parents Edward and Glenda Drotleff of East Liverpool, his 3 sisters Debra (Mark) McKeever of Goodyear, AZ, Susan (Rich) Dewey of Moon Township, PA, and Paula (Brett) Butler of East Liverpool.
Steve graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1987 and from Ohio University in 1991. He then received his law degree from The Ohio State University in 1994. Upon moving to Chillicothe, OH, Steve first served as an assistant prosecutor and then accepted a position as a Magistrate in the Ross County Probate and Juvenile Court where he honorably presided for almost two decades, touching the lives of thousands of people. In addition to his service to his community as Magistrate, Steve was a member of the Ross County Humane Society and was a former president of the Ross County Bar Association.
In his private life, Steve loved Grateful Dead concerts, tennis, pickle ball, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, and playing as many rounds of golf as he could, rain or shine. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of the Jaycees Men's Golf League, where he was a member. Whenever his friends or family needed help or a favor, he was always the first to volunteer, whether it was for a different perspective or his physical labor. His friends will always remember his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and his undying competitive streak. He will be remembered as a fair and just member of the bar and of the bench.
Most importantly, Steve will be remembered as a devoted father and a great dad to his girls Natalie and Lauren, and an adoring fiancé of Victoria, all of whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm Wednesday, September 1, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm Wednesday prior to the service. Due to the COVID 19 epidemic masks will be required at the services. The service will be live-streamed and viewable by clicking this link at service time: https://video.nest.com/live/xpJYv9zGfO The link will only go live at service time. Depending on the viewer's internet speed, the video feed may appear delayed and buffered.
In lieu of flowers, we know Steve would ask that donations be made to a scholarship fund for his daughters, held at Rockhold Bank 1212 Hospital Road, Chillicothe, Ohio. Details can be acquired through Dustin Nusbaum or any bank representative.
