Stephen Bernard Lawhorn, 62, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 13, 2025 at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 1, 1962, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Henry Bernard and Mary Maxine (Bowman) Lawhorn.
Surviving are his siblings, Suzanne Pinnix, Dale Lawhorn, Sharon Davidson, David (Kate) Treadway, and Edwin A. Lawhorn; 9 nephews, 1 niece, 5 great-nephews, 4 great-nieces, and 4 great-great-nephews; his beloved dog, Chizzum; numerous other cousins and extended family members; as well as his close friends, Tim "Smitty" Smith, Chuck McCrae, Terri Polen, Jimmy Cox, Misty Scaggs, Jessica, Leesa, and many others whom he dearly loved. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Elaine Lawhorn.
Stephen was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1981. He went on to work at Kroger for the next 29 years before recently retiring due to his health. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion and a huge supporter of youth sports. He was also known in Chillicothe as being an accomplished darter. In his free time, he loved taking trips, going fishing, and traveling with his family and friends. He was extremely family oriented and loved spending time with the people that meant the most to him. He will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Stephen's life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the Haller Funeral Home from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Friends are invited to join the family to come share memories and celebrate a wonderful person we all so dearly love. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home in his honor.
