Stella Tanner

November 23, 1917 — December 17, 2009

Stella Cora Tanner, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2009, at Traditions of Chillicothe, after an extended illness. She was born November 23, 1917 in Ross Co. to the late William and Cora Bayless Wingo. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Clara Dixon, Alberta Locklear, Catherine Cunningham, and Elizabeth Wingo and four brothers, Rev. Harold Wingo, Walter, Warner and Ralph Wingo. On November 12, 1936 she married James Franklin Tanner, who preceded her in death on November 27, 2007. To this union was born James Darwin (deceased), Joan Christine (Warren, deceased) Cousins, Kay Thelda (Curtis) Mitchell, and CaroleAnn (Jacques) Thomas; grandchildren, David, Dana (Debbie) and Devin (Heather) Cousins, Kevin (Karen), Brian (Tricia), and Darren (Natasha) Thomas, Susan (Charles) Hicks, Sharon (JD) Dakar and Don (Julia) Harris; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great, great-grandchildren, left to mourn their loss. She was a lifetime member of Zion Baptist Church serving various auxiliaries including as a charter member of the Zion Loyal Club. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday at Zion Baptist Church, Rev. J. Troy Gray and Dr. Curtis Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 Tuesday at the church.
