OUR GUIDING STAR, STELLA
With fuII hearts and deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Stella Darlene McWhorter, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2026.
Born on May 2, 1940, Stella Morris was the youngest of eight siblings. From an early age, she embodied resilience, strength, and a deep sense of care for others. Life shaped her into a woman who knew how to persevere, love beyond measure, and create a home that welcomed everyone. She retired from Mead in 1990 and attended Mt. Tabor Church.
Stella was a devoted mother to Kathy Shanton and her husband Tim, Randy Doss and his wife Chonce, Sherry Thompson-Haynes and her husband Gary, and Rick Doss. She was a cherished grandmother to Tye Williams, Brandon Williams, Justin Doss, Rachel Fisher, Brooke Shanton, Taylor DeMaria, Andrew
Thompson, and Johnathan Doss. Her love also lives on in her twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She poured her heart and soul into each generation, creating a legacy that will continue forever.
Stella never met a stranger and had an unforgettable smile. She nurtured a wide circle of friends, speaking to many every day and treating them like family. Her heart was always open to companionship and laughter, and she cherished every one of her friends deeply.
She was also known for her sense of humor and the joy she brought into everyday life. Whether through her laugh, stories, or traditions she created, she had a gift for making life truly special. She found happiness in time with family and friends, creating unforgettable memories, and made sure everyone was well-fed and cared for through her love of cooking and hospitality.
Stella leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, humor, and her faith. Her family and friends miss her deeply but find comfort in knowing she is with Jesus and all her loved ones who have gone before her. Her love lives on in every life she touched and the family she built so beautifully. She will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Stella's Life will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 6:00 pm at the Haller Funeral Home, Chillicothe. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
