Sophia G. Hughes, 76, died at 2:04pm November 10, 2016, at the Vineyards at Concord in Frankfort. She was born July 10, 1939, in Athens, Greece to the late George and Christina Makri. On October 17, 1957, she married Donald J. Hughes, who preceded her in death on April 18, 1997. She is survived by her daughters Mattie Woll, of Cincinnati, Donna (Jim) Doyle, Chillicothe, and Christine Bohlen, Columbus; grandchildren: Rachel (Brent) Mathias, Cadiz, OH, Zachery A. Starkey, New York, Dustin Starkey, Columbus, Justin Doyle, Hamden, Joseph Starkey, Columbus, Christine Woll, Cincinnati, Taylor Bohlen, Hilliard, Heather Griesheimer and Jason Doyle, both of Chillicothe; great-grandchildren: Logan Wissman, Arianna and Elijah Starkey, Gabriella Woll and Oliver Mathias; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers Costas Makri and Nick Makri; a son-in-law Mark Woll; and a great-grandson Bryer K. Mathias. Sophia was a member of Brookside CCCU. She retired from JC Penney Department Store where she worked as a manager. Sophia's family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending time with them, eating out with them and shopping. She was known to speak her mind and occasionally sneak chocolate at night. She was an unforgettable person and will be missed by all who loved her. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, November 15, at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W. Broad St., Columbus, with Pastor Doyle Jackson officiating. Friends may call Monday from 6-8pm at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
