Sheila Austin

Sheila E. Austin, 80, of Chillicothe, passed away early Thursday morning, November 2, 2023 at Legacy Chillicothe Nursing Facility, following an extended illness.



She was born January 7, 1943 in Chillicothe, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Menefee) Mitchell. On February 22, 1964, she married her beloved husband, Hobart Patterson Austin, Jr., who preceded her in death on June 28, 2009.



Surviving are their two children, Dominic "Pat" Austin, and Elizabeth Jane "EJ" (Humberto Colon) Austin; five beloved grandchildren, India Austin, Dominicka (Dante) Harris, Donisha Austin, Keipher Scott, and Kevin (Jessica) Scott; great-grandchildren, Donnell Turner, Nile Continat, Anoke Harris, Kiser Harris, and Italy Jo Austin; her brother, William (Wanda Hambrick) Mitchell; her sister, Jan Bonnie Mitchell;  a special nephew, William (Lisa) Thomas; close family friends, Kevin Scott, and Billie Jo Young; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Elvis Mitchell.



Sheila was a former member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Chillicothe. She retired from the Kenworth Trucking Company and remained close with many of the friends she made throughout her employment. In her free time, she loved to go shopping and especially enjoyed traveling.



A Celebration of Life service will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 11:00am until the time of the service.
