Sharon Joy Skinner, 81, of Chillicothe, died peacefully January 3, 2022 surrounded by family.
She was born on January 15, 1940 in Chillicothe, OH to the late Gilbert E. Woodruff and Hazel Winks Woodruff. She married James R. Skinner, who survives, on January 4, 1957. They shared 65 years of marriage. Also surviving are her children, James R. Skinner Jr. (Teresa), Robin M. Young, Candi L. Barnes (Russell). Grandchildren, Zachary D. Martin (Riann), James R. Skinner III (Heather), George W. Smith IV (Marie), Emily S. Mosley (Brian), Taylor K. Young, Jackson S. Barnes, Mitchell R. Barnes. Great grandchildren, Brenn R. Martin, Meredith R. Smith, Henry B. Smith, Kendall R. Martin, Christina S. Mosley; several nieces and nephews, brother Larry E. Woodruff (Annie), sister Pamela McGarvey and all whose lives she touched as a friend.
Sharon was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Walnut St. United Methodist Church. She worked many jobs in her life including General Electric, Super Duper, and Rubbermaid. She and husband Jim loved fishing and in 1987 opened Skinner's Tackle and Bait on Rocky Fork Lake, retiring in 1999. They moved to Florida for three years but decided to come back home to Chillicothe in 2006 to watch their family grow. Her smile and laugh were contagious, capturing the heart of all who met her. She loved everyone!
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Woodruff.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm at the Walnut Street United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Friends may join the family for a visitation from 1:00pm until the time of the service.
