Sharon Detty, 82, passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
She was born June 10, 1941, in Chillicothe to the late Beryl and Veryl Sowers Dearth. On March 6, 1960, she married Amos E. Detty, who died July 30, 2016. Survivors include her children, Charla (Dan) Green, Grove City, Mike (Beth) Detty, Chillicothe, and Cheryl (Kenny) Wheeler, Londonderry; grandchildren, Dustin and Chip (Madi) Detty, and Reece, Carissa and Ryan Wheeler; and great-grandchildren, Brooks and Leah; brothers-in law, Virgil (Marilyn) Detty, Florida and Paul (Linda) Detty, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Delores (Jim) Sowers, Chillicothe and Nila (Jack) Sauner, Circleville; Jackie Dearth, Chillicothe, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings, Lee Allen and Vance Dearth, and an infant sister, Linda; brother-in-law, Olan Detty; and sister-in-law, Becky Poole.
Sharon was a 1959 graduate of Southeastern High School. She retired from Harts Department Store in Chillicothe, having worked there from the day they opened their doors until the day they closed. Her greatest love was her family, always providing as much support, care, and compassion as she could. She was creative and funny in her own way; her sense of humor will be missed. She also enjoyed many variations of music and dance over the years, from playing the piano, attending concerts, most recently listening to her favorite hymns on Amazon Music; square dancing, line dancing, even clogging. She was an avid Hallmark movie fan and could never turn down a cat or dog that needed a home.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to National Church Residences Hospice staff for their care and compassion, with a special mention to Leah Bolt. They also kindly request in lieu of flowers donations be made in her honor to NCR Hospice, 681 E 3rd St., Waverly, OH, 45690.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 6, in Londonderry Cemetery, Rev. Aaron Hines officiating. Friends may call 5-7 pm Tuesday, December 5, at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
