Shane Gregory Strausbaugh, 42, was born on September 23, 1982, but liked to tell his friends that he was born in "1980". He always wanted to be "older", and adamantly denied his real birth year until the end! Hahaha! He passed from this world on October 23, 2024 at 3:18am with his three favorite people at his side; his fiancée of over 22 years, Joni Grable, their daughter, Allyssa, and his sister, Heidi Chaffin.
Disclaimer: The next part of this obituary will reflect a few, very honest statements, just the EXACT way Shane was, and he wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Allyssa was his world! He did so many things with her like taking her to get her nails done, and he loved to take her swimming every year at my house. This summer he purchased some new pool toys, floats and squirt guns for the two of them and said "I'm leaving them in your pool shed Heidi!". He was so excited to buy her new roller skates for her birthday this year. He always wanted to make her happy.
You can say what you want about Shane, because yes, he was a jerk at times towards us all, but he loved his little girl more than anyone, or anything in the entire world.
Surviving is his fiancée, Joni Grable; their beloved daughter, Allyssa; his older sister and best friend, Heidi (Jamie) Chaffin; their daughter, Jacey Chaffin (Shane once threated to beat up one of Jacey's boyfriends if they hurt her. They just laughed. Funny thing is, Shane was NOT joking!); his younger sister, Amber (Scott) Tilton; their son, Tate (Shane and Tate shared a very special relationship. He loved him very much.); his younger brother, Tearance (Jake) Strausbaugh; and his son Waylon; his niece, Jada Rider, and her parents, Deana Price and Scott Rider (Although Jada and Shane weren't close, he often spoke of how glad he was that she had such wonderful parents and the life she has.); his almost father-in-law, Dave Grable, whom he cherished and loved like a father; a special almost sister-in-law, Jana Bushatz, and her children, Dalton Conrad, Dylan Bushatz, and Lacey (who would be making Shane a great-uncle in January with her first baby boy!); his nephew, David, and his mother Jody; as well as special friends and family; Josh Blanton, Donnie Evans, and Brady Benson. Shane was predeceased by his mother, Marcella jane Kepler Strausbaugh, his father, Eugene Strausbaugh, Jr., his daughter, Kelsey Grable Strausbaugh, his almost sister-in-law, Jody Grable, as well as his almost mother-in-law, Ginger Grable.
Shane seriously thought he was "Billy Bad A$$" because, well, in a way he was! He didn't back down from anyone, or anything. If you needed him, he was there and ready for whatever challenge you may be facing. He will be missed by so many.
Cremation services are being handled by Haller Funeral Home. There will be no public calling hours or viewing. A celebration of life service is being planned and will be announced at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family GoFundMe to help ensure Allyssa and her mom Joni are able to focus on healing while they navigate this difficult time together.
