Scottie J. Kuhn, Sr., 76, of Chillicothe, died at his residence at 8:15am, on December 9, 2023, following an extended illness.
He was born September 14, 1947, in Ross County to the late Carson "Bud" and Rosella "Tudy" (Hurley) Kuhn. On July 7, 1969, he married the former Sally K. Giffen, who preceded him in death on August 9, 2021.
Surviving are his children: Scottie (Susan) Kuhn, Jr., Tonya (Lloyd) Wilson, Maggie Kuhn, Shane (Britany) Kuhn and Whitney Kuhn; 24 grandchildren, in addition to his special sidekick Jaeda "Ellie Mae" Caplinger; 21 great-grandkids with another on the way; his sister Elaine Rutter; and a special friend Ben Keene. He was predeceased by his parents; his daughters Bethany Lowman and Rebecca Kuhn; and siblings Wesley Kuhn, Emmett Kuhn, Kenneth Kuhn, Montie "Paunch" Kuhn, and Opal Sullivan.
Scottie worked at a sawmill and as a farmhand and was especially talented at bartering. He loved fishing, spending time with his grandkids and had a special place in his heart for attending to outcast or injured animals.
His funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, December 14, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Larry Leasure officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
