S. Myers

Samuel Brent Myers, 84, of Chillicothe, went to be with his Lord March 15, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family, following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born February 18, 1939 in Chillicothe to the late Samuel C. and Verna M. Rodgers Myers.  On July 5, 1964 he married Sandra K. Rine Myers, who survives.  Also surviving are two children, Melissa (Doug) Matheny, Chillicothe and Christopher (Nicole) Myers, Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, Catherine Matheny and Hadden Myers; two great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Ryker; a sister, Dixie (Jim) Parker, Lincoln, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Brent had many friends which included 5 couples he and Sandy had a potluck dinner with, every Friday, Tom & Sue Troester, Ron & Sheila Wagner, Dave & Colleen Anderson, Joe & Sue Lazzaro and Ron and Jane Harper.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Collin Matheny.

Brent was a US Air Force veteran and retired railroad engineer, having worked for the B & O and C & O railroads.  He was a member of Walnut St. United Methodist Church.  His faith meant a great deal to him, and he loved his church family.  He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Union, Scioto Lodge 6 F & AM, Aladdin Shriners, and the Ross Co Shrine Club.  After his retirement, Brent enjoyed volunteering as a soccer coach at the YMCA, as an usher and portal chief at Ohio State, and spending time working on his outdoor garden railway system.

A Masonic Service, followed immediately by his funeral services will be held 11:00 Monday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.  Military graveside services will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  Friends may call 10:00 until the time of the funeral services at Haller's on Monday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Co Shrine Club, PO Box 371, Chillicothe, OH 45601 for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals.
