Ruth Ellen (Bennett) Thompson, 73, of Kingston, went to be with the Lord at 7:05am Tuesday June 19, 2007, in Logan Elm Health Care, Circleville. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Friday, June 22, at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Angie Knoel officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 11-1pm Friday at Haller Funeral Home. Ruth was born February 7, 1934, in Yellowbud, OH, to the late Claris and Evelyn B. (Easter) Bennett. On July 14, 1972, she married Dale E. Thompson, who preceded her in death August 8, 1988. Surviving are her five children: David (Vicki) Diehl, Columbia, SC; Jennifer (Edward) Hurff, Las Vegas, NV; Everett Diehl, Jr., Laurelville; Jeanne Blair, Circleville; and Denny Robert (Donna) Diehl, of Circleville; ten grandchildren: Amy Tooill, Shannon Kitchen, Cory Diehl, Sondra Grubb, Beth Diehl, Shelly Diehl, Jodi Nickles, Sheila Darling, Rob Diehl, and Tom Blair; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister Jean Clark, Columbus; a brother John (Betty) Bennett; and a sister-in-law Pat Bennett, all of Kingston. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a grandson James E. Blair; a brother Ed Bennett, and a niece Debra Parks. Mrs. Thompson has been well known locally for her talents on the piano and organ. She played for many churches, organizations, clubs, business establishments, public and special occasions, and was the original pianist for the "Goosetown Astonishers". She was a member of the Springbank United Methodist Church in Yellowbud and was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary.
